Following a series of severe storms and floods that struck Central Vietnam, the Polvita team had been looking for an opportunity to reach out to communities affected by the natural disasters.
After several attempts were delayed by successive storms, the journey finally became possible. Although the relief supplies were modest, being able to personally deliver them to families in need made the trip especially meaningful.
Our destination was Thanh Commune, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, home to the Van Kieu ethnic community.
Reaching a Remote Community
Thanh Commune is a particularly disadvantaged border area, where challenging mountainous terrain makes everyday life difficult for residents.
During the rainy season, the area can become isolated by streams and waterways, making travel, agricultural activities, and the transportation and exchange of goods extremely challenging.
Because of its remote and difficult-to-access location, relatively few charitable groups are able to reach the community.
For this reason, Polvita chose Thanh Commune as the destination for this relief initiative — with the hope of bringing practical support to families who had suffered significant losses following the floods.
200 Relief Packages for 200 Families
With contributions of time, effort, and resources from Polvita employees and supporters both inside and outside the company, the team prepared 200 relief packages for 200 of the families most severely affected by the floods.
The packages contained necessities intended to provide immediate support and help families stabilize their lives during the difficult period following the disasters.
For Polvita, the value of the journey was not measured by the size of the gifts, but by the opportunity to personally meet the affected families, offer encouragement, and let them know that they were not alone in their time of hardship.
Resilience in the Face of Adversity
The aftermath of several consecutive storms left a heartbreaking scene.
Homes and surroundings bore the visible marks of the floods, while many families faced significant difficulties in rebuilding their lives.
Yet despite everything they had been through, the people of the flood-affected communities continued to show remarkable resilience. Their smiles and optimism in the face of adversity left a deep impression on everyone who took part in the journey.
Their strength was a reminder of the resilience and compassion that have long been part of the Vietnamese spirit.
A Small Gesture of Care
The Polvita team hopes that the support provided during the journey, however modest, helped bring some comfort to the families affected by the floods.
More importantly, the visit created an opportunity to share, listen and stand alongside people facing difficult circumstances.
Polvita sincerely wishes the communities in Central Vietnam peace, safety and better days ahead.
We hope that when we have the opportunity to return, we will meet the people of the region under brighter and more peaceful circumstances — not in the aftermath of another disaster, but in a time of recovery, stability and hope.
